They are incredibly helpful and generous of spirit: fresh baked local bread deposited on the kitchen table each morning, making reservations at small local restaurants and then escorting us up through the back roads to be sure we found the places, a warm, freshly baked tart by Gilly set out for us after a long day, and always being available to answer questions. And yet, for the week we stayed there, we all felt like we were in our own private paradise. Each of the four bedrooms had its own private full bath, lovely views and comfortable beds. The kitchen was well equipped although Dennis and Gilly will arrange to have local chefs come up to the house and cook for you too. If it is possible to enhance the beauty of the surrounding area, Gilly has done so with her well loved and kept gardens. As my husband and I got in the car to head to the Rome airport for our return home, we both agreed- it would have been wonderful to stay longer.
